What is it?:
The Pan Mass Challenge (PMC) Teen
Mountain Bike Ride is the first Pan Mass Challenge ride tailored to High School
students who want to raise money for cancer by riding their mountain or hybrid
bike on carriage trails . This event will enable you to raise money for potentially
life saving cancer research and treatment given through the Dana Farber Cancer
Institute and the Jimmy Fund. Participating in this event is a great way to earn Community Service hours required for High School graduation, National Honor Society ,National Merit Scholars, and religious organizations . Why not start your own school team by organizing a group of your friends to ride ? Look for the tabs on this site which allow you sign up to ride as part of a team or individually There are also sample letters which you can use to help you with your fundraising .

Last year over 75 students from more than 20 different High Schools participated in this ride! Two of them walked away with a brand new mountain bike, and all of them had a great time while raising money for cancer!

The course is a 1.7 mile loop on a
gently rolling carriage trail called the Page and Sadie trail at the Hale Reservation. You can do one loop or
multiple loops. Parking available on site. This ride will take place rain or
shine.
Post Ride Party:
Stay for the Post Ride Party featuring
festivities led by High School students Matthew Piispanen, Nicole
Piispanen. Sophie Sherman, Peter Sugar, Simon Carruthers and George Ebbs . Music will be by Tim Sebastian and Henry White of The Emcees. Snacks will be donated by local merchants and there will be
some great raffle items including a brand new mountain bike and several gift certificates for sports training at CATZ in Needham.

We are encouraging all riders to pre-register on line today.
You will need to consult with your parents on items listed below when registering:
1. There
is a mandatory registration fee of $10
when you sign up (all major credit cards accepted for this)
2. There is a fundraising minimum of $25 which will be charged to the credit card on file at the end of October if you have not reached your minimum
3. There
is a liability form on line that is required and must be filled out at time of registration.
When you sign up go to the family box, input your name and follow the directions. There is a spot for team which is optional if you decide to create your own team.

Fundraising:
SET A GOAL: A great goal
is to raise $200 or more, but raise as much as you can.
FUNDRAISING MINIMUM: $25
SHOCK JOCK HEAVY HITTER: If you raise $200 or more you will
achieve Shock Jock Heavy Hitter status and will automatically be entered into
the Heavy Hitters Raffle . You will also receive a special gift from the PMC!
How to raise money:
- Write
a note telling friends and family what you are doing. Tell them your
fundraising goal and ask them to sponsor your ride with a contribution.
Explain the four ways listed below that they can sponsor you.
- Use Email, Facebook, Twitter and
letters to get out your message and to let people know what a great thing you are doing.
- For
helpful hints on how to fundraise, sample letters, pledge sheets, donation
forms and logos go to www.kids.pmc.org and look under the fundraising section.
- Ask
your Grandparents, Parents, Parent's friends and co-workers, neighbors, and
your teammates on sports teams to sponsor you.

you MUST check in BEFORE the ride. Bring the money you raised on this day. Remember, as mentioned above, all money you raised must be given to the PMC in the form of checks - no cash accepted.

Requirements:
Helmets are mandatory! It is recommended that you have a water bottle, extra money for raffle tickets for the new mountain bike , and rain gear. Tickets will be $5 each or $20 for 5.
