Welcome to the Third Annual Norwich, New York PMC Kids Ride!

Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC) KIDS Rides are mini-bike-a-thons that involve children ages 2-15 in the PMC mission by providing them an opportunity to fight cancer just like adults. The PMC KIDS Rides became an official PMC program in 2005 as a way to include young cyclists in raising money for adult and pediatric cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston. The program engages youth in philanthropy, instills the value of working for the benefit of others, promotes athletic fitness and physical activity.

The children participants ride their trikes and bikes and solicit sponsors for their ride to donate money to cancer research. 100% of all money raised by this event goes directly to Dana Farber via the PMC.

While there will be a time limit for the actual ride, there is no minimum or maximum distance. Riders are encouraged to ride for as long as they feel comfortable and are enjoying themselves.

There will be two routes to the ride designed for children of all ages and skill levels. Participants may choose the loop they wish to ride based upon their comfort level. One loop is intended solely for younger riders. Riders can challenge themselves to ride as long as they wish.

To register to ride and set up your fundraising page online, please click here. All riders are encouraged to pre-register as the registration fee is $10 if you register by Friday, May 25, 2018. The registration fee after that date is $15. The minimum fundraising goal of $30 is due on the day of the ride. Rider’s sponsors should be sure the rider has received the sponsorship funds electronically before the ride on in cash to turn in on the day of the ride.

Once the rider’s page is set up, sponsors will be able to go on line and donate to your ride. Every rider receives a PMC Kids Rides T-shirt and other special surprises. Don't miss out and register early to make sure you have a chance to participate in Norwich’s Third Annual PMC Kids Ride! Please make sure bring your bike and a helmet to wear during the ride.

The PMC will recognize young cyclists who raise $300 or more. Riders who meet this goal will be honored as Heavy Hitters and will receive a sack pack and certificate. In addition, riders who raise $800 or more will be honored as Breakaway Fundraisers and they will receive a special recognition certificate and a New Balance PMC Kids Ride backpack!

As coordinators, we have planned a fun fundraising event for March 11, 2018 from 3:30 PM until 7:30 PM. Please join us at Taylor’s County House, 297 NY 320, Norwich, NY for delicious spaghetti dinner and a fun and exciting silent auction. You can pre-order and take out by calling 607-316-0107. We will have gluten free available so try to let us know in advance if you would like that type of spaghetti. You will be amazed at some of the cool donations we will be auctioning off. Don’t forget to bring your returnable bottles and cans that day too to donate to our bottle drive!

We encourage older children (ages 14 and up) who are not interested in riding to act as volunteers. We also need adult volunteers to be involved in every aspect of the event. Please join us as a volunteer by clicking volunteer registration page to see the available positions and to register as a volunteer. All volunteers receive a PMC volunteer shirt and have the opportunity to participate in this great event.

If you know someone fighting cancer, you know the ride they are battling is tough. Volunteering for the PMC could make a huge difference for your friend, relative or even a complete stranger.

Sponsorship opportunities are also available and encouraged from individuals or corporations at five levels: Friend (under $100); Bronze ($100-$249); Silver ($250-$499); Gold ($500-$999) and Platinum ($1,000 and above). All sponsors will be recognized at the event and listed in the Norwich event program. Sponsorships over $2,500 will be listed in the PMC yearbook. Please help sponsor our event by clicking here.

Our ride is dedicated to all of our loved ones whose lives were cut short by cancer and to those who continue to inspire us as they live with cancer.
